Came here on a wednesday afternoon around 1:30pm. There was plenty of seating inside when we got there. My friends and I all ordered the standard Daikoku Ramen ($12.50). Service was good, and drank lots of water.

I used to really enjoy the Daikokya in Sawtelle, but the last several times I went, that one was disappointing so I came to this location by suggestion of a friend, and this location was MUCH better. The broth tastes richer than the one in sawtelle. Only downside is that it only comes with one piece of pork.

Free parking with validation, up to an hour. Or maybe an hour and a half haha idr.

I have dreams about their spicy sesame vegan ramen. They have only one vegan option here for ramen, but it's the only option you need. The ramen is so good. So so sooo good. It's perfectly spicy and so flavorful. The ingredients all taste fresh and the noodles are perfect. Big portion sizes, but what ramen isn't?

I love the decor here. It's set up like you're eating on the streets of Japan. They have booths as well as bar top seating. I've always been seated upon arrival and never had to wait. It's never crowded, and the staff is patient and happy to help. If you like ramen, you have to try this spot. They have a few other locations as well.

I love the decor. You feel like you're dining outside on a street in Japan! Good flavored rich broth and perfectly cooked noodles. My only complaint is that they only give you one tiny slice of pork... bummer.

The house cabbage salad is like CRACK!!!!

Open late and consistent. There is parking on the roof which is super helpful on the busy sunset strip.

The interior is a bit cramped feeling, but not unpleasant. Portions are great. My family has no negatives, service great, food very good.

So why not 5? I think the noodles are not quite chewy or woodsy the way I like them. But I really enjoyed them. Our tempura was great. Sushi good. We had a tuna bowl - nice. Really friendly with a movie set style Japan market. I'm lloking forward to going again, but I might order something else to try it out.

My friend has been wanting to try Daikokuya for some time, especially after hearing all the positive buzz about the ramen chain. Since we were in the area and saw that a relatively new Daikokuya had opened up, we decided to drop by and try it out.

So we came on a Saturday at a completely off-hour time. There's actually a parking lot up behind the restaurant, but me being nervous in LA traffic - had already found street parking and paid for the spot. The restaurant was completely empty except for one other table. Workers were of course super friendly and helpful as hours were still very slow.

Luckily we came during Happy Hour time (every day from 3 PM - 6 PM), and since I wasn't too hungry, I just ordered some appetizers to munch on while my friend tried the ramen. There are a good number of discounted appetizers (including beer and sake) as well as rolls and the typical appetizers.

Takoyaki (5 pieces for $4) - not a bad deal at all, and it came with some pickled ginger and green onions on the side. The takoyaki was flavorful and not too bready, but there was just way too much mayonnaise slathered on top. Felt super heavy after eating just one.

I was intrigued by their grilled (pork, beef, chicken) with kimchi for $5. I opted for the beef and thought the items would be on skewers with kimchi on the side. Yeah, no - the kimchi and beef are cooked together on the grill - beef is similar to Yoshinoya's beef. I don't know, but I have never tried kimchi warm before - and I don't ever want to try it warm ever again. Not appealing and tasted really strange. This dish was also covered with green onions; unfortunately we barely finished half because of how off-putting it tasted.

And of course we ordered their special Daikoku Ramen ($12.50), in which the noodles are bathed in a pork broth and soy sauce base along with green onions, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, marinated egg, sliced roast pork, and some sesame seeds. For $12.50, that's is quite a heftier price for a bowl of ramen. But the portion was actually quite big. The broth was tasty but a little oily. I definitely needed to drink water after consuming a portion of the soup. The noodles were cooked well and the pork and bamboo were on point. We both did not enjoy having bean sprouts in the ramen - feels like that item goes better with pho, not ramen.

The storefront isn't too big, but the dim lighting and cool wallpaper and decorations definitely take you away from the LA area for a moment.

tl;dr - The ramen was decent, but not something I'd drive in traffic for. The appetizers were just okay. Glad I got to try Daikokuya at a location (instead of their old food court location back when they opened in Arcadia), but don't think I'll be back anytime in the near future.
